Irit Segal Israeli
IsraelThe Tallit is a large rectangular shawl made of fabric, in which the Jewish man wraps himself in prayer. I received the Tallit exhibited here from my Iraqi-born partner who had it to his Bar-Mitzvah initiation ceremony, some Iraqi-born partner who had it to his Bar-Mitzvah initiation ceremony,
some photograph of an iron statue I had created, simulating the Israeli sabra which symbolizes the native-born Israeli. While one glistens against the blue sky of the land, the other is forged into the fabric of the old cloth. Red flowers – the wounds of time, adorn the thorns.
